Despite the difficulties of a tough economic environment, new brick and mortar wineries and tasting rooms have been popping up in Napa Valley – several near downtown Napa. The most recent is the new St. Clair Brown Winery near downtown Napa that opened very recently and boasts a tiny eatery inside a glass-paned English-style greenhouse.
Started by co-owners Laura Brown and Elaine St. Clair, and in true, wholesome Napa fashion, the St. Clair Brown manifesto indicates that this small group of like-minded people works together to create a space that allows the sharing of the best they do with the community. Like many wineries and eateries in Napa, one of the best parts about living in Napa Valley is the availability of locally grown produce that ensures garden-to-table freshness. The eatery soon to open at the St. Clair Brown Winery is sure to be one-of-a-kind.

Some of the other wineries and tasting rooms in and near Napa include the following:
- Macauley – The Macauley vineyard label was originally established in St. Helena in the 1980s by Mac Watson’s mother. Mac and his second-generation winemaker and friend, Kirk Venge, decided to revive the Macauley family label – and by all reviews, they’ve done a great job.
- Canard – The Canard vineyard has been quietly producing small batch, hand-crafted wines for over 30 years and each year their wines are produced from estate grown grapes.
- Odette Estate – opened recently and the latest of PlumpJack’s impressive, cutting edge wineries, its delicate vineyard surroundings boast an edgy and modern look that serve to enhance the rocky mountains behind.
