Are you a hard-core runner, an emerging fitness enthusiast, or a strong supporter of community events? Whether as a spectator, or as a participant, if running long distances in an inspiring setting is something you wish to experience, Napa is the place to be.
Here’s a snapshot of Napa’s running events in March.
Napa Valley Marathon: Sunday, March 1, 2020
With sweeping valley views and yellow-gold blooming vineyards, the Napa Valley Marathon, held annually in March, boasts exquisite scenery that you don’t want to miss. First established in 1979, this exciting event has made it to the Forbes global list of ‘12 Top Marathons Worth Traveling for’.
Participants enjoy a beautiful, point-to-point course that runs along the winery-dotted Silverado Trail. Starting in Calistoga, the route meanders south into the quaint valley towns of St. Helena and Yountville, and ends in the ever-vibrant downtown Napa. While the lush, rolling hills serve as a spectacular backdrop to this route, most of the course is actually quite flat and downhill. Hence, it is no surprise that many novice marathoners attempt their first 26.2-mile run at the Napa Valley Marathon.
Napa Valley Women’s Half Marathon and 5K: Sunday, March 22, 2020
Established in 2019, the Napa Valley Women’s Half Marathon and 5K start and finish at the Oxbow Commons Park in downtown Napa. Both races offer a scenic course that passes many Napa attractions and wineries, followed by an exciting after-party. From casual walkers and speed walkers, to joggers and serious runners, these events are suitable for women of all ages and interests.
All the March races are non-profit events that give back hundreds of dollars to the local Napa Valley community.
