Where to Go for Craft Beer in Wine Country

August 08, 2019
Category: Napa Valley Information

Historically, people come to Napa Valley for the wine. With the Mediterranean climate and favorable geography, it’s easy to grow high quality wine grapes in this region. But, as the craft beer market is exploding, a growing number of craft breweries and taprooms are popping up in wine country. You aren’t really surprised, are you?

The next time you’re in Napa, be sure to stop by one of these local breweries and sample their selections of IPAs, wheats, ambers, porters, stouts, pilsners and more. You won’t be disappointed, even if you’re a wine lover first.

Fieldwork Brewing

If you pay a visit to Oxbow Public Market, you can’t miss Fieldwork Brewing. This taproom is located right in the heart of downtown Napa Valley and a 10 minute walk from Napa Valley Hotel and Suites. The brewery offers a variety of beers that you can enjoy by the glass, in a sampler flight or in to-go crowlers and growlers. Food isn’t sold here, but you can pick something up from one of the local vendors.

Stone Brewing

If you’re looking for a place that brews their own beer and has a sensational menu, Stone Brewing is a short 6 minute walk from Napa Valley Hotel and Suites. This two-floor brewery features a full menu of craft beers and unique food options, such as beetroot hummus, poke bowls and plant-based patties. But, the best is yet to come. Enjoy these delicacies indoors or outdoors with spectacular views of the Napa River.

Norman Rose Tavern

Norman Rose Tavern is a neighborhood gastropub that has a great selection of local microbrews and wines on tap. This is a great choice if you’re looking to try a variety of beers and wines. The vibe this restaurant delivers is unlike any others, as it’s located in an old bank building that features reclaimed wood and leather accents. Just a 4 minute walk from Napa Valley Hotel and Suites.

Lagunitas Brewing Company

Laguinats is located in Petaluma, CA, about 25 miles west of Napa. But, it’s worth the drive. This local favorite has a huge selection of ciders, ales, sours and stouts, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Aside from the rustic indoor seating, you can also grab a picnic table outside and listen to the music in the beer garden. The brewery has a laid back vibe and is welcoming to dogs.

Tannery Bend Beerworks

Located in Tannery Row, a historic part of Napa, this brewery is incredibly low-key and relaxed. You can enjoy bottomless popcorn and other snacks that are prepared in-house. With industrial-style decor, board games to play with friends and a TV for watching sports, this is one place you can settle into for the afternoon. Take the 3-minute drive from Napa Valley Hotel and Suites or enjoy a scenic 20-minute walk.

A trip to Napa Valley never disappoints! As more breweries come to Napa, this Northern California town will be known for its artisan brewing as well. Schedule your stay with Napa Valley Hotel and Suites and be within walking distance to the best breweries, taprooms and restaurants!
