Downtown Napa Vintage Christmas

Is it too early to talk about Christmas? We didnÔÇÖt think so. ThatÔÇÖs why we want to make sure youÔÇÖre familiar with the magic that is the Downtown Napa Vintage Christmas celebration.

Towards the end of November and through the New Year, youÔÇÖre going to see Downtown Napa completely transformed into an incredible Christmas wonderland. ?áEvents begin on November 25rd, the night before Thanksgiving, at 6pm in Veterans Park. On that evening, the townÔÇÖs 30-foot Christmas tree, adorned with more than 2,500 lights and 1,000 ornaments, will be officially lit.

Come back on Saturday, November 28th, for the townÔÇÖs official Downtown Christmas Parade. The parade is led by Santa and features community floats as well and dancing Christmas trees. The fun starts at First and School Streets and youÔÇÖre welcome to stop for a quick picture with Santa after the parade, too. There are also prizes for the best floats, best decorated cars, and costumes for pets and children. This yearÔÇÖs theme is ÔÇ£Tis the Season.ÔÇØ

Napa on Ice, NapaÔÇÖs only outdoor skating rink, will open on November 20th and stay open until January 10th. The rink is open every day, including holidays. Check the siteÔÇÖs calendar for daily hours, as they do vary depending on the day of the week. You can even book parties, private ice time, and skating lessons for you and the kids. ItÔÇÖs a lot of fun.

Throughout the entire Downtown Napa area youÔÇÖll get to experience gorgeous decorations and more than 35,000 lights. There will be amazing specials on wine tastings, food, and of course shopping ÔÇô but the entire area will be a welcoming, family-friendly haven for simply smiling, laughing, and enjoying the holiday season.

Make sure you check with the Napa visitorÔÇÖs center as well as your Napa hotel concierge to find out what new special events have been added to the Vintage Christmas calendar. We guarantee you wonÔÇÖt spend a single day in the area with nothing to do!

  • Santa Claus ÔÇô Santa will arrive at the festival grounds at 2:15pm with flashing lights and sirens on CalFireÔÇÖs infamous truck.
  • Carriage Rides ÔÇô Take a romantic ride amidst the lights, sounds and breathtaking views of Yountville. These romantic carriage rides are a classic feature of the Annual Festival of Lights.
  • Music and Talent ÔÇô Throughout the festival, you will find local artists and musicians sharing their talents on the streets and performing free concerts. There will also be a performance by the Regional Dance Company.
  • Food Tasting ÔÇô Between the hours of 2:00pm and 5:00pm, the award-winning restaurants of Yountville will be offering their tasty samplers and more than two dozen wineries will present tasting samples of their wines.

5 Incredible Places to Spend Thanksgiving in Napa

Wine country is an incredible place to visit just about any time of the year. The holidays, though, can be very stressful at home ÔÇô the pressure of entertaining, cleaning, cooking, and cleaning again in the aftermath. It can be a bit overwhelming. ThatÔÇÖs why Thanksgiving is an extra special time of year to visit Napa. You can kick back, relax, enjoy the gorgeous atmosphere, and allow yourself to be catered to.

The Napa Valley Wine Train

The Napa Valley Wine Train is one of the few places where you can actually enjoy a Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day itself. Your multi-course meal and wine pairings are served as you enjoy a relaxing 3.5 hour ride through wine country. The price range on Thanksgiving day is $134 to $209 per person. Make sure you make your reservations early.

The Calistoga Inn

The Calistoga Inn is another popular spot for Thanksgiving Dinner. The menu, while somewhat traditional, is also a bit different than you may be used to. The prices range upward for different entrees (like fillet instead of steak) or for additional appetizers.

Celadon is another incredible restaurant serving Thanksgiving dinner. Located in the Historic Napa Mill, the restaurant caters to small families and large groups, so if you book right away you may just be able to bring a large group of family and friends to enjoy Thanksgiving together.

Auberg du Soleil

The restaurant at Auberge du Soleil serves a decadent Thanksgiving meal you wonÔÇÖt soon forget. Think creative dishes like oysters on the half-shell or a stunning fairytale pumpkin soup. The cost usually ranges from $55 for children to $125 per adult. Call or book online to ensure your spaces are reserved.

Napa Valley Hotel and Suites

The Napa Valley Hotel and Suites has a stunning and affordable Thanksgiving package as well. For only $199, you can enjoy a deluxe room with a Jacuzzi and a king size bed. YouÔÇÖll also receive a free dinner voucher for two valued at $50. You donÔÇÖt need to use this on Thanksgiving day, either. Book ahead and enjoy the weekend before or after ÔÇô whenever youÔÇÖd like.

The holiday season is in full swing but you donÔÇÖt have to let that become a cause for stress. Book a weekend away or a meal in a gorgeous restaurant and let someone else do all of the work for you. Enjoy!

Visiting the Napa Valley Film Festival 2015

Fall is here and you know what that means ÔÇô the Napa Valley Film Festival is right around the corner. This yearÔÇÖs festival, slated for November 11th through 15th, promises to be 5 days full of incredible films. And wine. And food. You wonÔÇÖt want to miss it!

The Ultimate Film, Food, and Wine Experience

ThatÔÇÖs what they call it. The entire festival takes place throughout four villages ÔÇô Napa, Yountville, St. Helena, and Calistoga. Throughout the duration, you can expect to see more than 125 new films, spot more than 300 different filmmakers and industry guests, find deals for more than 150 wineries, and find decadent food offerings from 30 different chefs. Food, wine tastings, and special events will fill your days from start to finish.

How to Enjoy the Festival

HereÔÇÖs what you really need to know about the Napa Valley Film Festival 2015.

First, youÔÇÖre going to want to take a look at the full festival lineup (itÔÇÖs been announced!) to decide what events are most important to you (and accessible). You have a lot to choose from, ranging from the Opening Night Event and the Festival Gala to the celebrity tributes and the closing night awards ceremony and wrap party. Then you will, of course have dozens and dozens of incredible films and sub-events to choose from. You can see the entire NVFF2015 lineup here.

After you have an idea of where youÔÇÖd like to go, youÔÇÖre going to want to snag your tickets and passes. Some of the events are more limited than others, so take care of your reservations sooner rather than later. Your choices include the Festival Pass, Pass Plus, or Patron Circle VIP experience passes.

You will also be able to purchase individual passes to the Festival Gala, Celebrity Tributes, and Awards Ceremony & Wrap Party. At checkout, youÔÇÖll be able to choose which festival village youÔÇÖll use for pass and ticket pick-up.

CanÔÇÖt make it to most of the festival but want to see at least one film? You can gamble on a rush-pass at the door on the day of an event. Get there early, look for the rush ticket line, and take your chances. You may get in!

Oh ÔÇô and the food and wine part we mentioned? YouÔÇÖll be able to enjoy wine at all of the screening venues and some will have glasses and bottles for sale. YouÔÇÖll also find special food and wine pavilions throughout each festival village.

If you havenÔÇÖt already mapped out your next trip to Napa, start by planning around the festival weekend. This is one event youÔÇÖll be glad you didnÔÇÖt miss.
