Why Napa is Your Best Thanksgiving Getaway Location
Summer in Napa was beautiful this year. Gorgeous weather, parties, wine tasting…so much fun for just about everyone who visited. Now that fall is just around the corner, it’s time to turn our attention to just how gorgeous this area is as temperatures cool. Specifically, we want to tempt and tantalize you with all of the great reasons to make Napa your next Thanksgiving getaway. From turkey to trains, this is why you should come.
Incredibly Good Food
Napa doesn’t only specialize in wine; this location boasts some of the best restaurants in the country, too. If you love gourmet food, be it surf, turf, or even sushi, you’ll find something to delight in every single day you’re here. Try Morimoto for sushi and sticky ribs, Ristorante Allegria for true Italian cuisine, or Celadon for seafood.
If traditional Thanksgiving dinner is more your style, call around to a few of Napa’s most treasured restaurants. Many offer a Thanksgiving dinner service, but you’ll need to book significantly far ahead to secure your spot before they fill up.
Amazing Outdoor Experiences
It’s a bit of an understatement to say that Napa is a place filled with amazing experiences. There’s something to do for everyone in this treasured little town, from hiking to concerts and even hot air balloon rides with ALOFT.
If you love the outdoors, fall is a great time to visit. Temperatures remain warm, but it’s cool and comfortable enough to get a bit of exercise without overheating. Try any of the myriad of bike tours available to visitors, or break free and rent canoes to cruise down the Napa River instead.
At the end of the day, head back to your hotel to rest in luxury as you sip on your favorite wines. It’s truly the best of both worlds!
Train Rides Through the Countryside
Downtown Napa is beautiful, as are most of our wineries, resorts, and parks. Even just seeing that alone is an experience, but you haven’t truly experienced Napa until you take the Napa Valley Wine Train and cruise through the countryside.
The Wine Train starts with a wine tasting; then, you’ll load up onto the train and head off through town. Music, appetizers, and wine, paired with comfy seating that lets you sit and watch the scenery roll by, makes this uniquely inspiring.
Part way through the tour, Thanksgiving Dinner is served – turkey with all the trimmings, made by gourmet chefs. Indulge yourself, but be sure to leave room for dessert (and more wine, too). The entire experience lasts about three hours.
