The Napa Valley area and portions of Lake, Sonoma, Yuba and Mendocino counties have recently been devastated by the effects of more than a dozen wildfires. Officials evacuated about 20,000 residents in the North Bay area. The damage is high; approximately 1,500 structures and over 40 lives were lost as of October 18.
Here at Napa Valley Hotel and Suites, we want to reach out to residents and visitors to the local area and let you know that we are open for business and ready to help. If you need temporary lodging or help, reach out to us at 707-226-1871. We’ll do our best to help.
If you’re currently safe, but want to provide help to fellow residents, we want to help you find your way to the right resources. Review the list below for helpful links and information on local disaster relief efforts, including where you can donate and who’s currently seeking volunteers.
We accept FEMA Emergency Lodging Assistance, and displaced Guests needing assistance can call 1-800-621-3362 or www.disasterassistance.gov to get approved for assistance to this program.
1. Napa Valley Community Foundation (NVCF)
The Napa Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) maintains a Disaster Relief Fund which the foundation has mobilized for use during the aftermath of the wildfires. You can make a donation via credit card, check or transferred cash or securities.
2. Wine Country Animal Lovers
Wine Country Animal Lovers are focusing on localized rescue efforts, including animals injured or burned as the result of the wildfires. This non-profit organization has set up a fund to help raise funding for vet care and supplies.
3. Redwood Empire Food Bank
As the food supplier for the evacuation centers serving those displaced by the wildfires, the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) has an almost constant need of cash in order to replenish their food supplies. You can donate cash by clicking this link. If you’d like to volunteer instead of donating or in addition to donating, call (707) 573-3399 at 3 PM each day. You can also sign up to be an on call volunteer at the REFB by filling out this form.
4. Sonoma County Fire Relief
A group of pilots from across the state came together to form Sonoma County Fir
e Relief. This non-profit organization uses the cash donations it receives to purchase $25 gift cards that are earmarked for families in the local area that are in need. Go to this page to make a donation and learn about other ways you can help.
5. Red Cross
The Red Cross offers the ability to volunteer in the areas that are most pressing. This page offers more information. They also make it easy to donate. You can go here to donate online, make a $10 donation by texting REDCROSS to 9099 or call toll free at 800-RED-CROSS.
