April may be the official month for the arts in the Napa Valley, but the Arts in April theme goes out with a bang when the ENGAGE Art Fair rolls around. Held on the weekend of April 30th and May 1st at the Napa County Fairgrounds in Calistoga, this official closing event is the largest gathering of artists, musicians, and crafters you’ll find all month. If you want to immerse yourself in the arts, this is one event you should not miss.
About the ENGAGE Arts Fair
Only in its second year, ENGAGE was founded by a group of Bay Area Artists. They wanted to find a better way to engage artists and audiences participating in the Arts in April events, bringing about a stronger level of community involvement. As the culminating event, the art fair aims to provide an interactive setting, somewhat different from your traditional art fair with lines of tables and booths. The creators have a significant set of defined goals – showcasing Bay Area artists; developing an appreciation for Napa Valley arts in the community; helping with cultural tourism; and more.
Participating in ENGAGE
If you’re a Bay Area artist and would like to participate in ENGAGE, make sure you fill out the zapplication online before March 25th. You’ll need to complete the application and submit it with a series of 5 images (including a booth image) and your $20 application fee. Any professional artist living in the San Francisco Bay Area is invited to apply. Commercial agents, manufacturers, and dealers are not eligible. Full details are on the zapplication site.
Just want to check it out? Show up. The event will be held from 10:00am until 4:00pm on both days at the Napa County Fairgrounds. There is plenty of parking in the area and there is also plenty of public transportation you can take from downtown, where you’ll also enjoy some of the area’s finest cafes and restaurants. The weather is incredible this time of year, the artists are talented, and the people you’ll meet are some of the friendliest around. Make sure you come prepared to explore all the San Francisco Bay area has to offer in terms of the arts. We promise this is one event you will regret missing.
Not sure how to get there? Ask us for information when you check into our special Napa Valley hotel room for the weekend. We’ll make sure you find your way.
