5 Things to Look Forward to During Cabarnet Season

December 09, 2019
Category: Napa Valley Things To Do

Are you planning a visit to Napa Valley during Cabernet Season? You’re in luck, because this is one of the best times to visit the beautiful wine country. The locals know it, and so do regular travelers who often come in the winter to take advantage of reduced rates and smaller crowds. Here are five things to look forward to during Cabernet Season.

1. Easier Appointments and Reservations

Fewer people means less pressure on the wineries and restaurants. Although you should always make an appointment at the wineries you plan on visiting, they aren’t as necessary in the winter. The same is true for restaurants. You can get reservations a lot easier, including your time of choice. If you need to change your reservation or add a few friends, this shouldn’t be a problem.

2. More Attention

With fewer crowds, you can also enjoy more attention at the local wineries and restaurants. When wineries are slower, they’re able to spend more time with their customers and perhaps even offer them additional tastes. If you love discussing wine with other enthusiasts or simply having a slower, more relaxed tasting experience, January is the time to do this.

3. Gorgeous Mustard Fields

Around the end of January, all of Napa blooms with brightly colored mustard fields. It’s an amazing sight to see, as the fields start as tiny babies and bloom within a few weeks. The fluorescent yellow flowers and mountainous views in the distance create the perfect backdrop for family photos, engagements and other memorable moments.

4. Lower Hotel Prices

Another benefit to visiting Napa during Cabernet Season is that hotel prices are lower. Not only can you enjoy lower rates, but also you can snag a higher priced boutique hotel for the same price as you would pay for a lower-end hotel in the summer. 5. Cozy Evening Fire Pits

January temps in Napa are in the mid 50s – most definitely sweater weather. In the evenings, you can cozy up to the fire pits that are located at many restaurants and wineries. Grab a glass of Cabernet and order your favorite appetizers. For complimentary tasting flights and other discounts, be sure to pick up your Winter in the Wineries Passport that’s valid until February 9th, 2020.
