Being a Triathlete in Napa Valley

Triathlons are races that involve running, swimming and biking. There are all different types of triathlons; some are long, some are short and some are in between. The similarity between all triathlons is that they involve dedication, practice and practice. The rewards are well worth the effort.

When you visit Napa Valley, you’ll see plenty of active people here. Running and bike riding are some of the most popular activities to enjoy in Wine Country because of the optimal weather, beautiful vistas, rolling vineyards and laidback atmosphere. If you’re interested in training for the triathlon, there are a handful of triathlon clubs in the area that will pave the way for future success in these races.

In fact, Napa Valley is home to many races throughout the year. This spring, here is what you have to look forward to:

  • HITS Napa Valley Triathlon, April 12-13, 2014 – Both first-timers and serious athletes can participate in the triathlon. Biking, swimming and running through the twists and turns alongside the vistas and vineyards keeps the race interesting.

  • Cycle for Sight, April 26, 2014 – With three courses – 50, 25 and 15 miles – the ride starts and finishes at Justin Siena High School. There will also be a Cycle for Sight Wine and Music Festival at the high school, featuring wine, beer and fine cuisine. Proceeds will go to local charities.

  • Napa Valley Tour de Cure, May 4, 2014 – With various biking routes – from 10 to 100 miles – you can choose a route that’s good for you. A scenic pedal through Napa Valley is rewarding and rejuvenating. The bike tour supports diabetes awareness, so get involved with a healthier lifestyle!

  • ZOOMA Napa Valley Half-Marathon and 10K, June 28, 2014 – ZOOMA is the newest fit girlfriends’ getaway that includes a scenic half-marathon or 10K race in Napa Valley. The terrain is mostly flat and includes breathtaking views of the vineyards and mountain ranges.

With so much to take part in, it’s no wonder why Napa Valley is home to marathons and triathlons. Join in the fun by signing up for one of these races or practicing with a local triathlon club. Also check out hotels in the area that will complement your stay with luxury king size beds, room service and jacuzzi tubs.
